ARTIST PERSONAL STATEMENT

Since I was little I enjoyed drawing. I thought Art meant a perfect reproduction of the reality. During my studies I realized that Art is everything but real. Also if you take a picture, is not the object itself, it’s your vision that makes that picture an art work. It’s a window from and for how you can see the world. It’s communication.

Then I started to think how I could make real those thoughts that I’ve had, giving them a shape. I chose for different projects, different media but the Art Installation is still my favorite because you can create what your imagination says. It’s like a new world that you build and you model like you want to.

I started to use common objects or material creating something extraordinarily different from they are usually used for. The beginning of collecting magazines was for me in high school, with my studies in Graphic Design. I started to see at the paper like one of our bigger resources because it comes from the Nature. Now I know that I can create from just a magazine, modeling just its pages, a kind of communication.

Everybody knows the idioms “Someone else’s trash is someone’s treasure”. Like Vik Muniz that use the trash for making beautiful operas, the important things is the message that you say and also how your work, in a little way, change the world. I hope my work will be one of those little voices.
